Triumfeminate: Three women at the head of medica mondiale
As Managing Director, Elke Ebert is now responsible for finances, staff and administration. Sybille Fezer will manage the programmes in Germany and abroad. Together with Monika Hauser she will also be responsible for the substantive development of the organisation's work. “This new shared responsibility should enable us to continue the strategic development of the organisation,” explains Monika Hauser. “Since the award of the Right Livelihood Award – the Alternative Nobel Prize – in 2008, there has been a steady growth at medica mondiale in the tasks and duties involved in our work for women who have been raped in war and conflict areas. Our three-woman management will meet the challenges arising from this.”
The triumfeminate will help to put into action the priorities agreed for the years 2016 to 2020 in the Overall Strategy. As Ms Hauser explains, this will include anchoring the stress- and trauma-sensitive approach of medica mondiale in work related to development policy. The women’s rights organisation is working to ensure the German government more effectively considers the issue of sexualised wartime violence within the fields of crisis prevention, stabilisation and post conflict reconstruction.
