Projects
Since 1993 medica mondiale has supported traumatised girls and women in war and crisis zones in a total of twenty countries – in some cases by setting up its own centres and increasingly by working together with local partner organisations.
At the moment, medica mondiale is actively supporting the rights of women in a range of projects in nine regions. There are medica mondiale therapy and women’s centres in Albania, Afghanistan, Bosnia, Kosovo and Liberia providing comprehensive support for women. With medica mondiale’s help, these centres developed into independent women’s organisations in Afghanistan, Albania, Bosnia and in Kosova, which medica mondiale continues to support and advise. In countries where the organisation is not represented through its own project centres, it works with locally based partner organisations to support projects in the medical, psychosocial and legal fields. This type of project funding is mostly for a limited period of time, with average grants amounting to 5,000 euros. This type of co-operation may lead to long-term joint projects with much higher funding levels.
