Networking – The theme in the www
This
column is intended to put specialists, experts, institutions, networks,
discussion circles and other interested parties in touch with each other
through the world wide web. It should enable them to exchange views on
a personal and professional level. At the same time, we hope it will help
us find groups of experts so that we can arrange information sessions
on site.
Experts, specialist groups and therapy centres
In Germany, as in many other countries – including the crisis areas
themselves – there are experienced experts and specialist groups
concerned with the consequences of war violence and trauma. They do research
and publications on the subject, and also offer practical support and
treatment. medica mondiale´s objective is to promote networking
on an international and interdisciplinary level among those who are dedicated
to helping survivors of sexualised violence. We hope to develop a broad
basis of knowledge which can be passed on for the benefit of the women
and girls involved.

Pool of experts
medica mondiale is constantly working to build up a pool of experts for
work on trauma. Its goal is to build up a network of specialists (such
as therapists, gynaecologists, midwives, project managers and lawyers)
. By participating in workshops, e.g., participants can become familiar
with medica mondiale´s women-specific approach, have the opportunity
of exchanging professional views, and can make themselves available for
training or projects domestically or abroad. Interested women with several
years of professional experience can download a questionnaire here to
apply for membership in the pool of experts.

Continued education
An integral part of continuing education is meeting with other experts and exchanging views on a professional as well as on an informal level – which is nothing other than a deeper type of networking. In offering this list of institutions known to us, we are merely passing on information; we cannot guarantee for the quality of their work. Unfortunately, due to lack of resources, it is not possible to provide a list of recommendations. However, it is important for us to receive feedback on your experience with these various institutions. Our aim is to provide continuous basic and advanced training for on-site counsellors and internal specialists.
