“Casa de la Mujer” – help for traumatized women

Until today, the picture of Chiapas is printed by the violation of human rights. During the conflict between government and local small farmers in the Mexican federal state Chiapas that lasts for years now, many women and girls were kidnapped by armed forces, enslaved and raped.

medica mondiale supports the woman center “Casa de La Mujer " (CAM) in Palenque. It was founded to provide a center for medical, psychological and legal help for traumatized women. In October 2004, our project fund finances a training for native woman doctors, psychologists and lawyers on how to work with traumatized women. The transfer of sound specialized knowledge on sensitive and competent contact with survivors of traumatic violence experiences is part of the central tasks of medica mondiale. Goal of the project is both a better help for traumatized women as well as the development of common strategies of the center and the commune in dealing with the subject of gender based violence and its consequences.
